Trend Alert: Peplum

Rihanna, Diane Kruger, Whitney Port and many other celebrities are wearing it. Peplum was popular in the 40′s and it is now coming back! It was love at first sight for us when we first notice peplum skirts/dresses. The flare around the waist makes an otherwise plain dress fancy but yet not flamboyant.
What is?
Peplum, according to wikipedia, is a ‘short overskirt that is usually attached to a fitted jacket, blouse or dress’.
How to wear?
Peplum can be quite a headache to wear if you don’t know how. Here are some tips.
1. Make sure other areas are body fitting
As the short overshirt flares out, make sure the other areas of the dresses are bodyfitting
2. Wear a contrasting clincher
Peplums are not exactly flattering to the waist. Wear a contrasting clincher to add emphasis on it.
3. Pick a monochromatic dress
If the silhouette of the peplum dress intimidates you, find a monochromatic instead of a patterned dress.
4. Pair a peplum skirt with a body fitting tank top
As we’ve said, peplums are rather fancy. Tone a peplum skirt down with a casual top. You’ll never go wrong with a black or white tank top.
