I hate to shop online because… #2

the quality shown in photographs are not the same with the actual item

Lucky me, so far items that I’ve bought did not vary too much from those shown in photographs. Maybe that’s because I only buy items which photographs are taken by the blogshop owner instead of those modeled by pretty Korean models. Chances is that the latter are digitally enhanced hence makes the item looks better than it actually is.

However, I’ve heard plenty of complains that the items which they’ve bought did not look the same as the actual item. A friend of mine ordered a white dress which looked absolutely gorgeous in photograph. When it arrived, the material was so poor that it’s see through! Besides, there were threads hanging out from the end of the dress that will make Bree from Desperate Housewives very displeased.

Few weeks ago, in “I hate to shop online #1,  Fashionomy asked its readers what they hate about shopping online. Amy said that “the quality shown in pictures are not the same with the real item”. Foong Jin also wrote to us to complain that there were defects on two dresses she bought which were not revealed by the blogshop owner nor seen on the photograph.

It does seem that this problem is universal.

    Recently i had bad experience with the new blog shop popping up!
    This week i received a dress which look so nice on screen, but the workmanship is very poor with alot of threads hanging. I had to spend my time cutting it away. They are selling at RM60 and I found out other blog shop is only selling at RM52.

    and I've placed an order for another dress via another blogshop 14 days ago, paid for it too. But seems like the seller is always busy to arrange COD and took a long time reply emails. She dont even bother to reply SMS. I've yet to receive my item till today! So disappointing with the service.

    This is the case with most blogshops. That's why it is important to buy from a trusted online store, those with lots of happy and returning customers. It will be even better if the online store has a brick and mortar outlet… this way, you can try or at least check out the quality of the products before you make a purchase.

    Some blogshops sell pre-order items, most of them have not even seen the products they are selling before. So, if you ask them, they themselves do not know the quality of the products. :)

    So my suggestion is to always buy from ready stock sellers. Contact them… shoot them an email, see how fast they can reply to you. Is there a number to call on their site? Give them a call see if they pick up?

    I’ve been selling & also shops online myself.nI experienced many incidents.nSome sellers being kind of snobbish in a way (s)he reply to my order/inquiry.nSome are very friendly which of course everybody would appreciate that.nIt’s did happened to me a few times, the nice-picture-but-poor-real-product thing.nBut soon I learnt that you should inquire as detailed as it make you satisfied provide that you’re really wanting to buy it, some buyers just inquire for fun making some sellers to ignore it, but they shouldn’t if they’re really sincere in selling,nonline shopping is about take care of satisfactory of customers & happiness of the sellers in making good sells & getting the regular customers coming in. To get that, sincerity is important when making the product description. :)nnCustomers feedback is really helpful for sellers to improve their service, so don’t feel reluctant to give a sincere feedback, they’re valuable to the sellers.nnBe a smart online shopper!nHappy shopping!
