DIY tote bag for RM 5

How was your Christmas? Mine was great! The best part for me was giving away presents and see the smile on the receiver’s face. This year, I hand painted seven different coloured t-shirts using fabric paints. They were all amazed when they realise that I made the presents myself. I love the fact that the shirts are one-of-a-kind. Others appreciate the fact that I took the time and effort to make something instead of buying something off the shelf.

It made me thought that if we have the time, we should make something for someone. My next project would be making tote bags from tank tops! (Yes, Christmas is over but New Year is near and birthdays happen often!). I was elated when was looking through Tanks for 5 and saw them mentioning about turning a tank top into a tote bag.

Crafty Nest blogged about how to make a tote bag out of tank top. The instructions seems easy and the supplies are not hard to find. The minimal you need is a tank top, straight pins, water-erasable fabric marker, sewing machine and thread, scissors, seam ripper and a ruler. With just that, you can create a tote bag! We found some tanks tops from Tanks for 5 which cost only RM 5 per piece. The only problem is that the tanks are t-back. I’m wondering how I could alter that…

12 Christmas Gift Ideas

Heard of the Twelve Days of Christmas? It’s begins on Christmas Day until 6th of January, a period known as Christmastide. While it’s not big here, the Twelve Days of Christmas is widely celebrated all over the world. In some countries, some people give gifts each of the 12 nights instead of Christmas night!

Christmas is just two weeks away. If you’re still uncertain of what to buy,  check out the 12 things we’ve pick from blogshops.

5. Mug

Ever wonder why gift stores always sells mugs? That’s because everybody uses one! Customise one this Christmas with paintings or a message on the mug. If the person you intend to give the gifts don’t drink a lot of water, perhaps the mug can serve as a reminder with “Drink 8 glasses of water a day”.

6. Cup noodle tissue dispenser

Personally, I think these tissues should only be seen in the toilet. Elsewhere, it better be kept in a cute dispenser like the cup noodle dispenser from I Love Snackfood, not those transparent plastic holder.

7. Duck plush toy CD holder

Best to keep CDs in the car. It functions as a cute plush toy too!

8. Cupcakes

The way to a man’s and a woman’s heart it through their stomach. Not a good cook? Don’t worry. Order cupcakes for them! I’ve personally tried Juju’s oreo cupcakes and brownies–they are SO good. What’s great about ordering cupcakes is that you can decide on the flavour as well as the design.

A mini massager is perfect for those who works all the time and complain of pains.  Get the workaholic this to ease their pain. It’s small enough to be carried everywhere.

In case you don’t know, there are still screening at the airport when you come back from overseas. People are still wearing surgical mask. Why not that health conscious someone a cute face mask?

11. Lomo camera

Old is new. While everybody uses a digital camera now, some people are still into film photography. There’s a camera that has two lenses which take rather funky photographs.
