I cannot be sure whether the products are authentic
This is a problem that I have not encountered as I don’t buy designer/branded products online. I was not aware of blogshops selling fake products until I was prompted by a reader, Jennie. She pointed out that MAC Glamourous, a blogshop which is listed under the shopping directory sells fake MAC cosmetic products. I went to the site and saw the notice “high grade imitation MAC Cosmetic products originated from Dubai”.
This post is not about ethics or legal consequences of selling fake products (though we wholeheartedly agree with Jennie that Fashionomy should only support authentic products) However, it did made me realise that there’s a problem with shopping from blogshops. If a blogshop did not reveal the authenticity of a product like MAC Glamorous did, buyers wouldn’t know until the they receive the product in which it might be too late.
What do you think?
Do you buy branded stuff online? Have you or anybody you know have been a victim of fraudsters? My take is that if you want to splurge on a branded product, get it from the original store or website. What about yours?

the quality shown in photographs are not the same with the actual item
Lucky me, so far items that I’ve bought did not vary too much from those shown in photographs. Maybe that’s because I only buy items which photographs are taken by the blogshop owner instead of those modeled by pretty Korean models. Chances is that the latter are digitally enhanced hence makes the item looks better than it actually is.
However, I’ve heard plenty of complains that the items which they’ve bought did not look the same as the actual item. A friend of mine ordered a white dress which looked absolutely gorgeous in photograph. When it arrived, the material was so poor that it’s see through! Besides, there were threads hanging out from the end of the dress that will make Bree from Desperate Housewives very displeased.
Few weeks ago, in “I hate to shop online #1, Fashionomy asked its readers what they hate about shopping online. Amy said that “the quality shown in pictures are not the same with the real item”. Foong Jin also wrote to us to complain that there were defects on two dresses she bought which were not revealed by the blogshop owner nor seen on the photograph.
It does seem that this problem is universal.
